Ingredients:
- 1 medium onion
- 1 medium green bell pepper
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
- 4 (4-ounce) cube steaks
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 tablesppons water
- ½ cup each ketchup and water
- 2 tablespoons each cider vinegar and Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon light brown sugar (I use more)
- ½ teaspoon dry mustard
How to Make It:
- Chop the onion
- Cut the bell pepper into strips.
- Combine the flour, salt and black pepper in a shallow dish.
- Coat steaks with flour mixture.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add steaks, onion and bell pepper.
- Cook, turning steaks occasionally, until browned.
- Combine ketchup, water, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar and dry mustard in a small bowl and mix well.
- Add the ketchup mixture to skillet.
- Simmer, covered, until steaks are tender, about 15 minutes.
