COUNTRY-STYLE CUBED STEAK



Ingredients:
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 medium green bell pepper
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 (4-ounce) cube steaks
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablesppons water
  • ½ cup each ketchup and water
  • 2 tablespoons each cider vinegar and Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon light brown sugar (I use more)
  • ½ teaspoon dry mustard

How to Make It:
  1. Chop the onion
  2. Cut the bell pepper into strips.
  3. Combine the flour, salt and black pepper in a shallow dish. 
  4. Coat steaks with flour mixture.
  5.  Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. 
  6. Add steaks, onion and bell pepper. 
  7. Cook, turning steaks occasionally, until browned.
  8. Combine ketchup, water, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar and dry mustard in a small bowl and mix well.
  9. Add the ketchup mixture to skillet. 
  10. Simmer, covered, until steaks are tender, about 15 minutes.
